SLEEPLESS NIGHT CONTRIBUTORS

Mariangela Capuzzo
Mariangela Capuzzo, has been involved in numerous facets of Miami’s arts community since the 80’s. She holds a degree in Psychology, Art History and Marketing from Florida International University. Her experience includes working for Christie’s Auction House Miami, palmbeachcontemporary in 2003-2004 as Director of the art fair, and as Artistic Director of the inaugural edition of balelatina, a fair of Latin Art in Switzerland in 2006. An art consultant and freelance writer, Capuzzo has promoted artists internationally and curated for numerous venues; most recently, “Fenomena”, at Galleri August in Reykjavik, Iceland and “Intervenciones” at Museo Marte, El Salvador. Currently, Capuzzo serves as board member on the City of Miami Beach’s Art in Public Places and of the Junior Host Committee for Art Basel Miami Beach. An entrepreneur at heart, in the summer of 2004 Capuzzo founded Locomotives-art-travel-projects, a multi functional initiative for the promotion of contemporary art and culture. Artfairs such as Photo Miami, Art LA, Circa (Puerto Rico), Buenos Aires Photo, and Pinta (New York) have benefited from Locomotives’ specialized direction in marketing, public relations, sponsorships and event planning. Destinations visited by collectors, art lovers and professionals with Locomotives guided tours include Reykjavik Arts Festival, Iceland in 2005 and Shanghai Biennial in 2006. For “Sleepless Night”, Capuzzo is curating four projects: Chus Garcia-Fraile (Madrid): “Post It”; public urban intervention on Lincoln Road, Bert Rodriguez (Miami): “Bedtime Story” a performance on the beach at the Sagamore Hotel, Magnus Sigurdarson (Iceland/Miami) in collaboration with Ragnar Kjartansson (Iceland): “Intimacy II”; a performance at the Colony Theatre and Asdis Sif Gunarsdottir (Iceland), “Don’t You Want to Love Her?”; an all night performance at the National Hotel.
